Mossops's Certified Organic Manuka Honey Active 15+ 500gr/17.63oz. Mossop's is a family business that has been producing top quality honeys for over 60 years. The company is a member of the NZ Active Manuka Honey Association, which certifies the origin and purity of manuka honey. Mossop's uses an unique honey processing method developed by father Ronald Mossop in the early 1950's. This is a natural
granulation method for processing extracted honey that maintains the natural
goodness and flavors of the honey. Most honey packers process their honey by creaming, which involves stirring for 2 or 3
days. This stirring process adds air and moisture to the honey, thus compromising its storing ability. With the Mossop's
process, the honey is only stirred for a few hours not a few days, and placed in
a cool room to naturally granulate. Thus the chance of adding moisture during
the packing process is reduced and therefore its keeping ability maintained,
along with the flavors and aromas naturally occurring in the honey. As a result
of this natural process, Mossop's honey tends to be harder than other honeys and
of a completely different texture to creamed honeys. Mossop's is known for not
over-processing, over-stirring, or over-heating its honey. Questions to
ask before buying manuka honey: Since about half of the active manuka honey sold
today is adulterated by mixing with manuka of lower of no activity, or with non-manuka
honeys, often not even produced in New Zealand, it is important to ask the
following questions before buying manuka honey. 1. Does a web search of the brand lead to the
apiary operation in NZ? If it does not, the chances that the honey is
adulterated increase; 2. Is the apiary a member of the Active Manuka Honey
Association?; 3. Was the activity of the honey measured in retail jars prior to
exporting?; 4. Where was the honey packaged?; and 5. What is the name of the
laboratory that conducted the activity tests?
